The original concept of the company was founded in 2007. Our business model was originally based upon offering networking summits for people interested in the music business. The summits were designed to give these individuals the opportunity to meet and connect with top-level executives who could open doors for them.
Late in 2008, the company decided to add decision makers from both the modeling and acting sectors of the industry. While networking conventions and summits have always existed for all businesses, from real estate to technology, no company offered a way for aspiring models, actors, and musicians to safely and easily meet real decision makers on a one on one basis with a proven track record of success.
In late 2009 and 2010, the company operated under a proven business model and was able to expand into both production and radio to build our brand and open new doors for our growing rooster of talent and industry experts. Our first production was a short film called The Mandela Maker, which would generate Oscar nomination buzz. Our efforts would also produce a digital radio show called The “It’ Factor on CBS, which was offered to expand syndication to multiple cities throughout the United States due to its unique perspective on the industry as a whole. The show was nicknamed with sincerity the “American Idol” of radio.
As we grew and our summits began to include more influential industry insiders, we decided to try our hand at reality television with an in-house show called VIP/NYC. The concept of the show was based upon the popularity of network shows, such as American Idol and America’s Next Top Model. The shows concept explored the actual difficulty and pitfalls of working in this industry. This harsh reality proved to be too “real” for the networks.
In November of 2010, we took this advice to improve our business model and through a wonderful and amazing relationship we entered the world of talent management. This offered a slightly easier and obviously more glamorous spin to our talents’ stories, which was more suited to reality television.
We were able to expand in this direction through our partnership with Ryan Colby, a twenty-five plus year veteran of the world of high-end editorial modeling. CEO Ryan Colby has been a model—working for the likes of Benetton, Comme des Garcon, Issey Miyake, I-d, Lexus and The Face, an art director—creating images for magazines such as Surface, Brasil Vogue, Spanish Vogue, Greek Vogue, German Vogue, Interview, I-d, Euroman, and dozens of others, and scout—placing models with top agencies worldwide, such as Next, Ford, Success, Elite, NY Models, DNA, Major, FM, Fashion, Joy, Bravo and many others. All this experience is brought to the table when hand picking the models.
As a result of Colby Models’ success, the company would again expand in March of 2011, creating Kaback Model Management (KMM). Kaback Models is a boutique management company handling the commercial print aspect of the business with two offices located in the Philadelphia region.
With these projects behind her and a passion for creating a true to life reality show on the business, Alycia Kaback began pre-production of The Model Diaries NYC a show based upon “making it” in the world of high-end modeling. With excitement and drama, we are all hoping this is the grand slam the company is looking for, which will bring us to both a national and global level.
